GZIP Decompression Bomb via Content-Encoding Header

The GZIP decompression logic allocates output buffers based on the ISIZE trailer field from the GZIP stream without validating its size.

Description

A crafted small GZIP payload that claims a large decompressed size results in excessive memory allocation and denial of service.

Impact

  • Denial of service.

Mitigation

Update Orthanc to version 1.12.11 or later.
